Official Rules of the Catholic Schools of Broome County – 2014 Annual Car Raffle

The Catholic Schools of Broome County (CSBC) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit agency as determined by the IRS. The CSBC provide a comprehensive Pre-K through 12th grade education. The schools are operated under the governance of the Diocese of Syracuse, NY. The car raffle is conducted for the purpose of generating funds to support the operation of the CSBC.

  1. Official Contest Rules may not be waived, modified, or supplemented except by the Director of Development in collaboration with the Superintendent of schools and with input from the CSBC Car Raffle Committee.

  2. The raffle drawing shall be held at 3:00 p.m. on December 29th 2014 at Seton Catholic Central, 70 Seminary Ave., Binghamton, NY 13905. All tickets must be completed and received and in the possession of the CSBC Development Office at 70 Seminary Ave, Binghamton, NY by 2:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time on December 29th, 2014 to be eligible for the drawing.

  3. Eligibility: Each entrant, by entering the raffle, agrees to abide by all of the rules and conditions herein, as well as all applicable local, state and federal laws and regulations, and further agrees to release the CSBC and its agents and employees from any and all liability with respects to all aspects of the raffle including, but not limited to, the selection process. The raffle is open to any eligible person residing in a country or state where the raffle is not prohibited. Entrants must be 18 year old or older.

  4. Ticket purchases: The cost to purchase a single entry (1) for the raffle is $5 and/or five tickets (5) for $20 and any combination thereof. Purchases must be made in U.S funds. Any entrant may purchase more than one ticket. Payment can be made by check, cash, or money order. All checks or money orders should be made payable to CSBC Car Raffle, the organizing entity of the raffle. If a payment is dishonored by a bank for any reason, such entrant’s ticket(s) will be declared invalid unless full payment and satisfactory payment, including banking fee, is made prior to the raffle drawing. Entrants are responsible to legibly write name, complete address, and telephone number on each ticket stub purchased. The CSBC will make every effort to contact winners where information is illegible. Any ticket stubs and payment, including payments previously dishonored by the bank, received after the closure of the raffle will be returned to the entrant. Upon receipt of a completed registration stub and valid payment, a ticket(s) with an assigned drawing number will be issued. Payment may be delivered to the CSBC Raffle, 70 Seminary Ave, Binghamton, NY 13905 and tickets shall be sent to the entrant after valid receipt of payment. Entrant is responsible to insure payment arrives before 2:00 pm December 29th, 2014 and entrant is responsible to collect entry stubs prior to drawing.

  5. Prizes: The prizes shall be listed on each ticket purchased. The first place prize is the vehicle listed on the face of the raffle ticket (2015 Jeep Wrangler Sport model). The one and only second place prize is $1,000 US. The one and only third place prize is $500 US. The CSBC disclaim all express or implied warranties, including warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose, regarding any prize. The first place prize will be delivered as a new first titled vehicle by Kevin’s Royal Automotive of Owego, NY. Winner may select color and add options at his/her cost. An alternate cash settlement of $15,000 will be available at the winner’s discretion.

  6. Claiming the prize: The winner must take possession of the prize within 14 days. Acceptance of any prize shall constant a waiver by the claimant of any and all liability against all agents, employees or persons legally connected to the CSBC for any known or unknown mechanical or structural defect in the vehicle. All warranties, if any, should be directed to Kevin’s Royal Automotive, the delivering dealer.

  7. The prize winner is responsible for all costs associated with the title, registration, licensing, delivery and other applicable fees associated with the vehicle. All taxes local, state, and federal, including but not limited to without limitation, all luxury, special, and income taxes that may be applicable shall be paid by the winner. The winner will be required to provide a valid social security number and two forms of identification, and must complete all IRS and similar forms requested by the CSBC and its agents prior to delivery of prizes. Failure to do so within 14 days of the request shall result in automatic forfeiture of the winner’s prize. In the event of forfeiture an alternate ticket will be used to determine winner.

  8. Modification or Cancellation of Drawing: The CSBC reserves the right to cancel or modify the raffle. If 6,000 tickets are not sold by 2:30p.m. December 29th, 2014, the CSBC, at its option, may modify the raffle by withdrawing the vehicle prize and offer the remaining net proceeds (minus expenses).

  9. Awarding of prizes: More than one name may be listed on a ticket stub, but the first name listed (on the “name” line) shall be deemed the entrant. The social security number provided must be that of the entrant. It is the sole responsibility of the entrant in a multiple party entry to allocate any such prize among the participants in the entry.

  10. Authority and Control: The decision of the CSBC shall be final in all matters concerning the raffle. The raffle is subject to the laws of the State of New York. Void where prohibited by law.

  11. Winner agrees to the use of his/her name, address, photograph or video tape likeness and statements for publicity purposes without any further compensation.
